The art scene is alive and dynamic ranging
from world-class theatre performances, international exhibits,
and hip murals and displays in urban neighborhoods. The area has
26 theater companies, 102 art galleries/dealers and 18 museums
including the Wexner Center and the Columbus Museum of Art. Whether
you are interested in visual arts or performing arts, the Columbus
arts scene has something for everyone.
VISUAL ARTS
Columbus
Museum of Art

The Columbus Museum of Art, located in the downtown area, features
houses countless exhibitions including works from an outstanding
collection of impressionists, German expressionists, cubists,
American modernists, and contemporary art. Visitors can take a
private tour to explore the museum and all of its treasures, or
browse alone through the various galleries and exhibitions.
King
Arts Complex

Visit the King Arts Complex, to explore rich exhibits of African-American
culture. The King Complex showcases local artists, and various
exhibits including the Elijah Pierce Gallery featuring a wide
range of historical and contemporary paintings, sculpture, graphics,
photography, and decorative arts. Performances in dance, theatre
and music are also feature of the King Arts Complex.
Riley
Hawk Galleries
Short North Arts District, the cities most eclectic concentration
of art galleries, is home of the Riley Hawk Galleries, where visitors
can view and purchase an array of stunning glassworks.

PERFORMING ARTS
The Columbus
Symphony Orchestra

Columbus offers a variety of choices for the lover of performing
arts. The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, housed in the historic
Ohio Theatre, is ranked among the top orchestras in the nation.
Now in its 51st year, the orchestra has a 46-week season featuring
54 full-time musicians The orchestra now performs more than 130
concerts each season reaching a live audience of 250,000, making
it the largest arts organization in central Ohio.
BalletMet Columbus

Since 1978, BalletMet Columbus has provided artistic excellence
in the field of dance to central Ohio. BalletMet reaches a total
audience of nearly 125,000 annually through performances at home
and on tour ranking them among the 15 largest dance companies
in the nation.
Opera Columbus

Opera Columbus is highly successful regional opera company presenting
a program of both Opera and Light Opera performances. Now in its
22nd season, Opera Columbus attracts a gallery of international
opera stars. From tragedy to comedy, romance to modern opera makes
each season with Opera Columbus one that all can enjoy.
Wexner Center
for the Arts

The Wexner Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary contemporary
arts center located on the OSU campus. Visitors to the Wexner
Center can enjoy a range of exhibitions, film and video screenings,
educational public programs for all ages and cutting edge performances
in theatre, dance, and music.
Shadowbox

The Shadowbox Cabaret, located in Easton Town Center, features
outrageous original comedy sketches, theatrical shorts, and live
rock n_ roll music rolled into one! This is not your traditional
theatre experience!
If these aren’t enough, downtown Columbus boasts six theatres
presenting local companies such as ProMusica
Chamber Orchestra, Contemporary
American Theatre Company (CATCO), among others.

CELEBRATE THE ARTS!!
The Columbus
Arts Festival continues to be a popular summer event in Columbus,
pairing the finest artists and craftspeople with a medley of continuous
entertainment including art activities, musical performances,
and food from Columbus’ finest restaurants. The Columbus
Arts Festival is recognized among the best in the nation, named
first in the nation out of 1,600 shows for its fine crafts and
fifth in fine arts by Sunshine Artist magazine.
